Three Rivers Park, a six and a half mile stretch along the shorelines and the confluence of three rivers: the Monongahela, Allegheny and Ohio, is destined to become Pittsburgh’s premier public realm and a focus for extensive investment. The largest riverfront regeneration project in the USA chose lighting and art as key place making tools.
Working with London, UK based Form Associates, whose team developed a comprehensive and visionary approach to using a lighting plan to link the nighttime appearance of the city to its urban, economic, cultural and social context, we identified a public art strategy to target the physical, visual and psychological corridors that connect bridge to bridge, community to community.
